Its predecessor was mapperg, which was released as freeware under the GPL licence.
In the latest version of the program, Mapperg takes advantage of the support for graphics and layout features in MapInfo Professional 11 and MapInfo 14. It uses graphics manipulation functions from the Graphics Tools API.
Input, output and storage
Mapperg reads GeoTIFF, PostGIS, GeoJSON and MapInfo files. The file formats accepted by Mapperg have been adopted by other open-source solutions, including QGIS, GRASS and MapInfo itself.
Mapperg can export map formats as well as some of its own internal formats:
PostGIS, GeoJSON and MapInfo grids with Java3D support
KML, JPEG and PNG for web maps
Internal formats supported by Mapperg include :
XyMaps
SPM
CTPN
Internal XML format MappXML is also supported.
The program can import, edit and export multiple rasters and vector layers.
